169 - Legends

I've been testing my skills lately by bringing back characters that I consider to be legendary in my own universe of creation. These are the original, time-tested warriors of death that have continued their own stories within the ever-changing landscape of my own mind.

In addition to these guys being drawn/colored up, I've been hard at work writing Viral Hell into a full novel. So far, I've made it to chapter 11 of the original 22 written when I originally wrote it as a graphic novel script. It started with a standard 1 to 1 conversion ratio from script to novel, but the further I delve into the story, the more elaboration I seem to do with the novel. Rather than simply skimming the surface with certain events as I did in the script, I've taken to elaborating extensively and building more emotional conflicts amongst all the characters. At this point, in chapter 11 that is, things are so extremely different from the script that the novel now only resembles it in the rough series of events that I continue to follow. As I view it, the original script was written rather well in terms of plot points but the pacing was absolutely dreadful. Being able to rewrite it as a novel has given me a great opportunity to stretch things out, giving them more impact, and really build towards individual climaxes.

Haven't slept much in the past few days.

This idea popped into my head last night somewhere around 4AM.

I've always wanted to do something with Leman Russ and Magnus.

The two brothers have always been at odds.

It would eventually lead to their climactic battle on Prospero, Magnus's homeworld.

Not to mention the huge battle of their legions, the Space Wolves and the Thousand Sons.

Still a work in progress for now.

Hey,

Give me a big welcome back hug or something because the Nate is back in the business of destroying lives via possibly blasphemous imagery.

So to start off, I've been dealing with a shit ton of crap that I'm not going to talk about other than to say that I'm over it, mostly, and capable of imagineering more fine art. The spectacle of today's post is what I've been working on whenever my head was clear enough to do anything. It's a depiction of the four remaining Archangels in Heaven after having descended to Earth in anticipation for the war to end all wars. Starting from the left it goes: Uriel, Raphael, Gabriel and finally Michael. Each has a little thing about them that makes them quite interesting, their faces and bodies are all different and they are almost interlocked in some sort of trance of thought. The anatomy on all of them came out amazingly well and the perspective was all very well done if I do say so myself. I could go into more detail about who each of the Angels are individually, but that would take a while.

The little thing at the end is the game cover that I came up with for one of my classes. Thought I'd share it to the good people on the internet.

Due to my body and mind being unable to combat the growing pain within me, I have been forced to take an indefinite hiatus from art and writing. My psyche will simply not allow me to process things the way it used to and, thusly, no new ideas are flowing. I do not know when I will be back, I do not know what will happen next. Until the problems within are solved and the nightmares go away, I will be disappearing from the internet almost entirely. I am sorry for this, but it must be done.

I worked on this Flesh Hound picturefor a bit before deciding that I had enough for tonight. It's still a WIP(Work in Progress) but it has serious potential and I think it might move on to be colored at some point. I know that the perspective is really shitty looking because there is no background, but go with it for me and tell me what you think. I went with a horned Flesh Hound this time, not sure why, but I think it made the Demon seem a great deal more brutal. That and the dead body mutilated under his body. Finish this one tomorrow hopefully.

There are more things within my mind, things I have no even imagined yet but still lurk within the darkest recesses. This is one of those things. A flesh hound, born and raised within the darkest depths of Hell to prowl amongst the living, who's sole purpose is to hunt Angels and those aligned with them to death. Claws, tusks, fangs and a body built to tear anything limb from limb makes a flesh hound a formidable foe, unless one knows how to attack one of these beasts.

I was doing some drawing lately and these are the best three that came out of the sessions. First is an Angel, unnamed with some sort of sword. Then we have an Incubi, since they have no true form I can go relatively crazy with how I think they should look. Lastly is the Main Character who finally has a name, Ferox, and he is summoning his sword from the depths of shadow. Pretty neat huh? That's all for now. I've been pretty busy building sprites for the In Light of Darkness prototype game so I haven't had much time for regular old artwork. However, I did sneak in a few moments of drawing via tablet to create some concepts and finished pieces for the general public. What we have here are Leviathan's Axe Heads, which I would like some feedback on which one is best, a Plague Vizier, a Shade and an Angel with a sword. Anyways, I got more class now but I will be drawing throughout it to please my undying fans.

I've been obsessing over this picture. It took me almost all day to figure out exactly how to do the coloring on everyone in the picture. I finally figured it out around 8 PM and have been fine tuning it ever since. Ultimately, the technique yields very nice results that creates a great sense of atmosphere and light, which is something that will play heavily on the art for ILOD(In Light of Darkness). The Behemoth of the Depths

Hey,
Leviathan was once an Angel, one of the last to be birthed by God into Paradise. He was particularly strange because when his fellow Angels would look at him, his skin would appear to have something scaled moving beneath it. God paid it no heed so neither did the Angels. When the Fall came, Leviathan was off destroying Earth with his massive frame and his ability to shape shift into the form of a great Sea Serpent. When the Father finally caught up with His creation, Leviathan was already on the path of change and was no longer the Angel that his Father had birthed. A titanic clash occurred over what, at the time, was the Isle of Atlantis. God eventually won and banished Leviathan in an act that forced the Isle of Atlantis to be completely destroyed, a fact that God has never quite lived down. As a Demon, Leviathan let the Sea Serpent show through his skin and his body became warped entirely from the Angel that once was at God's side. His weapon, the Sky Shatterer, was also lost during his Fall and is rumored to be located on the Isle of Atlantis where Leviathan was defeated by his Father.

It's me again and I just finished drawing my first penis. I think it looks pretty cool but don't listen to me, judge it yourself and tell me what you think. I did it all by accident. Here I was drawing away, almost finished with inking the picture and I come across the crotch. I was just like "Hey, what's the worst that could happen if I drew him a real penis instead of a bulge?" and BAM! Presto Penis. It's cool. He is rather buff compared to other renditions, but I think it works well with the overall feel. Tell me what you think and try not to stare at the penis.

Hey,
Two quick sketches of two different breeds of Demons. The first one is a brutish demon that is primarily for destroying its foes with force, still no name yet. The second one is a caster sort of demon that is originated from a sort of punished human being. Its eyes are held open by hooks so that it can constantly observe and take in the sins of the world to convert them into raw energy. Its skinny physique is because of its lifetime spent in Hell. I'm completely awake at 1:20 A.M and it sucks. I just finished drawing the Main Character from In Light of Darkness after revamping my anatomy a little bit with some practice. His left(our right) arm is a little undefined, but every time I went to make it more defined something happened and it looked weird. The Circle thing is the Seal of God. It's on his breastplate and the sword he is wielding is the current idea for the Shadow Sword. It's all looking pretty good if I do say so. Check you guys tomorrow.

Hey,
Me and Tim have been working on an idea for a future video game that could make our careers. It doesn't have a set name but we are working on it. For now, some ideas pertaining to the main character. He is a human-demon hybrid with a gauntlet that allows him to channel the powers of shadow into weapons ranging from melee weapons to full-fledged firearms and some shadow powers. The pictures might not be exactly what he is going to look like, but they are well on the way to being what we are looking for. That's all for now.

This just in: Tomalt is back and in an even more real way. These are six pictures that I drew today. The first is done using the old style to create Tomalt in a vaguely realistic way. The second is Tomalt in a brand new light. Anatomically correct, with still a hint of idealism, and in a very dramatic and natural pose. The third is Tomalt in the first stage during the revamp of the script into the novel, he is cocky and full of himself to the point it is breaking out of him. The fourth is Tomalt as an infected which comes after his suicide, depicted in the fifth picture. The last picture is Tomalt during his depression, during which he cuts his body in an attempt to numb himself. All good stuff. Next on the list: Jemina. More to come!

This tablet has literally made sketching out pictures so easy that I am mass producing them like crazy and the best part is, they are pretty awesome looking. It's not like they are just shitty, barely visible sketches of some obscure hero in a field of scribbles. These are defined sketches that I will probably ink and/or turn into some sort of digital painting. These three I just finished and they look badass. I'm thinking of making them into some sort of fantasy group that goes around causing mayhem while also revealing something personal about each of them as they do. Just me again with an inked version of The Storm. It came out really good. The background is one of the best I have ever drawn and really shows a sense of perspective and space. The summoner's clothing is completely wind-swept by the spell which is one of my favorite parts of the whole picture. Also the clouds and the spell are very nice in my opinion as I have never been able to do both very well. I'm sleeping till 10 tomorrow.

Hey!

So I'm back in RI and back in school. My first class was this morning and it was pretty good. Got to meet up with some old friends, learn some new things and get complimented on because of my Boondock Saints Hoody. Things are good.

Tonight wrestling is on, so I'm psyched about that. Diana is at the Soup Kitchen all night and I'm here alone. Which is why the following faces got finished. I made two versions, one lighter and one darker. I want an opinion on which one looks better because that is how I'm going to post them from now on. I think out of the six individual heads, numbers two and three are my favorites. Comment on which are yours.

Howdy,

It's about that time of year called Christmas. This year, I received a most wonderful gift in the form of Diana and I's one year anniversary. I couldn't have asked for anything else other than her love and I'm so happy that we will be together forever. Happy One Year Anniversary Baby!!!

In other news, I got a tablet from my parents. I've been using it quite a bit and it is really tricky to get used to but I am getting used to it and it has yielded some decent art. Hopefully I will be able to produce more pictures faster now that I have it and maybe even more color images versus plain black and white. Attached is the best of the pictures from the last two days. Looks pretty good if you ask me.

Hey,

Finished this one last night around 1 AM after a ton of work. I am particularly proud of all the detail that I got into the sword hilts, the pants, the Solaritan symbols and all the decorative things. His face also came out really well, I really think it shows how young he is and that he has been made callous to many things because of his training. His name is Markol, brother of Mercurio and Hunter for the Solaritans.

Hey,

Jobs are pretty hard to come by nowadays, even the low wage ones. Even though it has only been a few days, I am still hopeful that one of the many places I applied to will reply to me about an interview. I really need a job.

Last night, I was able to finish up these sketches. Some of them are reference sheets for the characters of the Shadow Princes, but one is actually of Helena, The Shadow Princess. She took forever to finish because I haven't drawn a woman since back in the good old days of Jemina, Mary and Lea. Those days were a long time ago, so the knowledge has kind of faded, but I got it back and I was able to finish a picture of her that looks pretty good if you ask me.

Howdy!

Many things to say so I will just jump right into this.

Turkey day was last week and I hope that you all ate your fill of turkey. I know I did. I had turkey for four days straight. Turkey on turkey day, more turkey the next day, turkey salad the next and then turkey on toast with gravy the last. I don't anymore turkey right now, but I will take some pie. Just not turkey pie, only apple or chocolate.

Next, I have been spending almost all my time writing new material for the Shadow Princes. If you haven't had a chance to check it out, DO IT RIGHT NOW. THE LINK IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BLOG. I am rather proud of all the information I've accumulated in relation to this one story. I have heroes, villains, neutral characters and about a million conflicts that need resolving. I think that this story will make one of the best video games with the many factions, storylines and characters. I'll get on that as soon as I can make a video game.

I have been drawing lately but ,because I'm really slow at actually finishing pictures, it is taking forever for me to finish what I started about two weeks ago. I really want to finish it though, it's a really cool picture with a story behind it and everything. Maybe I'll finish it up later today or something.

Masturbation Hiatus. That's what I'm taking. Let me tell you, it is quite possibly one of the hardest things to do when your girlfriend is a very, very horny girl. I love that she is so horny, but its hard to keep up with the hiatus when all she wants is me to do is talk dirty to her. Not that I'm complaining. I love talking dirty to her. It just makes the hiatus hard.

I'm not entirely sure what to draw next, my mind has been blank for quite a while lately. It's probably the lack of gum, but I will try chewing gum later and see if I can draw something.

Updates to The Shadow Princes

Hey,

Listen here. I've been very lazy as of late because I've had classes that require my utmost attention and assignments that are less than ordinary. I haven't exactly had time to sit down and draw anything relating to anything. The only things I have been working on lately are my writing.

I've been working on the second chapter for the Viral Hell Novel, which is coming along smoothly and should hopefully be very, very good. I've also been hard at work on my other project: The Shadow Princes. Lately I've been working out all the kinks in the major factions and trying to figure out just what I would like to do with it. I'm contemplating trying to make it into some sort of RPG video game by working on game physics and all the in-game things, or turning it into some sort of basis for extensive short story work and possibly a much longer story. I'd like to know what you guys think about it and there is a link posted at the bottom of the blog so you can get to the wikispace and all the info I've created so far.

Let me know what you think about anything. I do enjoy listening to critiques and criticisms.

Hey,

I've got a brand spanking new project that I'm going to be toying with for a while. It's called "Shadow Princes" and it's about a fictional realm of humans that are under oppression of an overbearing religious government. The Shadow Princes are sort of the knights in not-so-shining armor and they help out just so that everyone else can be free, even if they don't realize they aren't. It's got a butt load of information that I'm posting on a wikispace instead of in a bunch of blog posts. The link to said wikispace is at the bottom of the blog page. Check it out and maybe you will like it or maybe you won't.

Another note: I am going back to the Viral Hell project until I finish rewriting the script, that I wrote during the second half of my senior year, into a brand spanking new Viral Hell novel. It's going to take a while but I will continue to post pictures when I can if Diana will keep me motivated like I know she will. The novel is just in the beginning parts with only once chapter finished. However, I must say that the novel itself is much more enjoyable to read then a number of dialogue sentences and the occassional descriptive paragraph. There is more detail in every character, the dialogue is less choppy and everything is more enjoyable. I hope that everyone will like it and I might be posting it on my deviant art at some point to make it open to the public, so keep an eye on any info for that in my posts.

This is it my friends, the last and final update in the string of three that has taken the last two weeks to complete. After tireless hours of mousework in photoshop and a great deal of anger at the computer for being a bitch, the whole cover is complete. It might still be too big, but if it is then what you see will simply be a sort of larger version of it and the cover itself will be smaller and more focused. That is if it is needed.
